Registration is open for Downingtown Area Robotics programs for the 2026-27 season. Students learn engineering, programming, teamwork and problem-solving while building robots and preparing for competition.

Find the Right Robotics Program

DAR offers programs for students ranging from elementary school through high school. No previous robotics or programming experience is required.

FLL Challenge

FIRST LEGO League

  • Grades: Generally grades 4-6
  • Program fee: $500 per student
  • Session A: Mondays and Thursdays, 6:30-8:30 PM
  • Session B: Tuesdays and Fridays, 6:30-8:30 PM
  • Students build and program a LEGO robot and complete an innovation project.
Team availability depends partly on having enough volunteer parent coaches. No robotics experience is needed to coach.

FTC

FIRST Tech Challenge

  • Grades: 7-12
  • Program fee: $750 per student
  • Meetings: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:30-8:30 PM
  • Season: September through February, with possible postseason events
  • Students design, build and program a competition robot while working as part of a team.
Optional parent information Zoom: Wednesday, September 2 at 7:00 PM. The session will be recorded.

The tentative first student and parent meeting is Tuesday, September 8 from 6:30-8:30 PM.

FRC

FIRST Robotics Competition

  • Grades: 9-12
  • Students work together to design, manufacture, program and compete with a large-scale robot.
  • Opportunities include engineering, programming, fabrication, business, media and community outreach.
  • The current form is an interest list. Additional program and registration details will follow.
